What I Know About Teaching is Insufficient

to accomplish educational goals in this country.  Are we producing an informed electorate or service industry workers with name tags?  Are we producing the educated citizenry that can compete in the global economy?  What am I willing to learn that will make a difference?  This website is a place where we can have a conversation and share insights into winning the education game, closing the achievement gap and creating Life Long Learners.  I will share thoughts around using multimedia to engage students in the acquisition of knowledge.

Share your thoughts...

If you are not scared... you haven't been paying attention!

Do you know what your students are thinking?  How do we engage students?  Hopefully my preparation will have them asks better questions than this student.  Her question?
What makes America the greatest country in the world?

WARNING: This video contains strong language!!

This is part of the opening scene of Arron Sorkin's new HBO series: The Newsroom.  while the TV show is fiction... the numbers are real.

Are you ready to respond to the plea of students...

While the students in this video are in college, I assert that their concerns aren't very different from the students coming after them.  I commit myself to continuous growth and development in the service of my teaching practice.

Here is what we know about the speed of advancement and shift...

Since I am a math teacher... Let's look at some frightening numbers...

WARNING may not be appropriate for the very young.

Graphic pictures of drugs, nudity (breasts), addiction.

From TED.com:
Artist Chris Jordan shows us an arresting view of what Western culture looks like. His supersized images picture some almost unimaginable statistics.
